Chelsea have completed the signing of Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth £40m.
The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on an eight-year contract, tying him to Stamford Bridge until 2034. He becomes the second arrival of Xabi Alonso's reign, following full-back Marco Palestra.
The move has been a long time coming, though. Quenda actually agreed to join Chelsea back in March 2025, during Enzo Maresca's spell in charge.
The clubs agreed to leave him in Lisbon for another season before completing the formalities this summer.
He arrives as one of European football's brightest prospects. Quenda was named the Primeira Liga Young Player of the Season in 2024-25, helping Sporting to a league and cup double. He also became the youngest Portuguese player to score in the Champions League.
