Landry Jones knows his NFL career wasn’t typical.
The former NFL quarterback didn’t become a long-term starter with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he spent enough time around Mike Tomlin to understand why so many players speak highly of him.
Jones also had a rare path before he ever reached the NFL, playing for Cooper Henderson at Artesia High School in New Mexico and Bob Stoops at Oklahoma.
“My football career is not one that a lot of people have had,” Jones told reporter Chaz Wright from the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame ceremony.
“It felt like I just got lucky with being able to be coached by some of the greatest coaches,” Jones said. “Obviously coach Tomlin, gonna be a Hall of Fame coach in his own right.”
