Tennessee utilized Peyton Manning and Ron Slay to tease the upcoming release of its new Adidas uniforms.
Tennessee switched from Nike to Adidas, beginning July 1. It’s a blockbuster 10-year contract that promises to make UT a flagship university of the brand.
On July 2, UT shared videos on social media that offered a glimpse at what’s coming. Manning and Slay are Vols legends who played during the previous Adidas era, so they provided the voiceover.
"This year, Adidas is sponsoring student-athletes at University of Tennessee in every single sport," Manning says in a video as UT athletes stand in the checkerboard end zone in Neyland Stadium.
Manning then lists all UT's sports and says, "You know who else is getting signed for some reason? Old quarterbacks." In the video, Manning is wearing his old Adidas UT jersey from the 1990s.
