Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on Tuesday was roundly criticized after confirming earlier this month that he will no longer publicly discuss politics, catching flak from "Star Trek" icon George Takei and "Stand By Me" star Wil Wheaton — who called him a "coward."
Johnson was the highest-paid actor in Hollywood for several years and has arguably curated a nonconfrontational persona regarding politics, even as President Donald Trump launched mass deportations, lethal immigration raids, de facto coups and a war on Iran.

The former wrestler continued at the time, "Or if I feel like I got a leg up and this is the right way to go, I'll share it with you. Politics is omnipresent and it's forever. I don't like it. [Laughs.] I hate it at times. I hate the slinging. I hate all the ******** that comes with it."
