Jun. 30—A successful first half of a minor-league season can mean only one thing. The best players who got you there — in this case the one through four hitters — are moving up.
On Tuesday, June 30, the Reds made it official when they announced No. 1 prospect and catcher Alfredo Duno 's tour with the Dayton Dragons matched the speed typical of top Reds prospects. He left town after game No. 74 on Sunday for Class AA Chattanooga and took four of his friends with him.
"Really excited," Duno said. "Everybody's working to get to the next level, and I found out today that I made it. So let's keep working."
In a postgame clubhouse meeting on Sunday, manager Julio Morillo informed Duno, shortstop Carlos Sanchez, outfielder Kien Vu, corner infielder Carter Graham and starting pitcher Jose Montero that they would be in uniform for the Lookouts on Tuesday.
"Julio gave a great speech, thanked us for showing up every single day and doing what he demands of us," Graham said. "He's a great coach, and he just asked us to show up every day, play hard. He thanked us and everybody who isn't going up because obviously their time will come."
