Every year, the LGBTQ+ community gains new, out and proud members — including celebrities who choose to share their identities with the world. Although coming out can seem like less of a big deal than it once was, even the most low-key coming out announcements can be a big deal, especially under a presidential administration that routinely targets LGBTQ+ people. While high-profile queer and trans visibility can inspire others to live as their authentic self, it can also place pressure on a public figure to bear the load of representing a diverse community, and even raises questions of whether celebrities should still be expected to formally come out. Still, it's difficult to deny the impact of a well-known person using their platform to live openly and proudly.
With that in mind, we've rounded up a list of celebrities who have come out in 2026 so far, from Canada's Drag Race alum Tara Nova to former pro basketball star AJ Ogilvy.
We'll update this list periodically as more new celebrities share their identity with the world. — Abby Monteil
