Alex Tuch has been a consistent force for the Buffalo Sabres since he was dealt to Western New York in the Jack Eichel trade. He's scored 30 goals or more in three of his four seasons to go along with 66 points or more.
And now, because the Sabres weren't going to retain the veteran forward, he's been sent to the Washington Capitals in a sign-and-trade that got Tuch a MASSIVE contract: eight years and a $10.5 million AAV.
So who won this one? What are the details? As usual, let's hand out some trade grades for both the Capitals and Sabres:
Sabres get: A "mid-round" draft pick, per Grant Paulsen (we'll update when we know more)
Capitals get: F Alex Tuch (who signs an eight-year deal worth a reported $10.5M AAV)
