Back in January of this year, the Minnesota Vikings fired General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after four seasons with the organization. This came shortly after extending Adofo-Mensah, which left some surprised, but fans were thankful for the move. However, the franchise would choose not to hire a GM until after the draft, a move that left some confused.
Minnesota would bring in Nolan Teasley from the Seattle Seahawks to fill the role of General Manager. Teasley spent the last three seasons as the Seahawks ***** istant General Manager, after spending almost a decade in scouting. In a recent interview, he peeled back the curtain on how he builds his rosters.
“I’m not arrogant enough to tell you that I’m better at watching football than you are… my superpower is the ability to take in information from a lot of different people that have different areas of expertise, then implement that and build a process off that off of that, that ultimately leads me to try and make sound decisions in a short period of time.”
The excitement around the hire seems justified. The mindset he has has shown to work for him and the Seattle Seahawks and now the Vikings hope it carries over.
