After losing the first game of the Premier League season, Tottenham hopes to avoid an upset in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Aug. 26, hosting second-tier Charlton Athletic in London.
That matchup is one of four matches on Wednesday with Premier League sides Newcastle United and Everton also in action. Chelsea (vs. Luton) and Fulham (vs. Wimbledon) play on Thursday, the last of the 11 Premier League teams not involved in European competition who entered the second round.
The nine teams playing in Europe will join play for the third round, with the draw for those matches set to be held at the conclusion of Wednesday's games.
