Manchester City are exploring a move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as they prepare for the possibility of Rodri leaving for Barcelona.
The Independent reports that City have begun ***** sing the prospect of signing the Argentina international, who is highly regarded by new manager Enzo Maresca, following their time together at Chelsea.
Rodri is understood to favour a move to Barcelona over Real Madrid, with the Spain international's future increasingly uncertain. Barcelona have now made a £38.5m offer for the midfielder, although City are seeking at least £60m.
Fernandez, 25, is therefore emerging as one of City's options as they consider how to reshape their midfield. The club have already signed Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116m, while Bernardo Silva is also expected to leave for Real Madrid.
Chelsea value Fernandez at around £120m, according to the Independent, which could make a deal difficult. The midfielder joined the Blues from Benfica for £106m in January 2023 and enjoyed a strong campaign last season, scoring 16 goals and providing nine ***** ists in all competitions.
