By the end of a chummy interview on Monday’s episode of the “Club Random” podcast, comedian Bill Maher seemed smitten with reality TV star Spencer Pratt, the insurgent candidate for Los Angeles mayor.
The pair spent an hour bonding over their gripes about taxes, unhoused Angelenos, the city’s nightlife and Mayor Karen Bass, before a clearly charmed Maher dropped one of the most iconic lines in rom-com history on his guest.
“You had me at ‘hello,’” Maher said, quoting the romantic climax of the 1996 Tom Cruise/Renée Zellweger classic, “Jerry Maguire.”

“You have the exact right impatience with this ****,” concluded Maher. “It’s very authentic.”
