Mookie Betts is having a down year for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he is starting to heat up.
On July 20, Dave Roberts moved Mookie Betts to the No. 5 spot in the batting order. He had been hitting cleanup for most of the year, but had a .226/.290/.399 slash line through 63 games. He had just 11 home runs in that span as well.
Since moving down in the order, Roberts has even had Betts hit sixth a few times. He was back in the cleanup spot for one game against the Milwaukee Brewers, but went 1-for-4. However, overall, his numbers since the move are significantly better. He has a .264/.291/.443 slash line with five home runs in his last 28 games.
It's still not quite on par with where he has been for most of his career, but he is trending in that direction. He has a .315/.351/.537 slash line in his last 14 games. On Wednesday night, he had a three-hit game, playing a huge role in securing a series sweep over the Colorado Rockies.
