Instead of stopping to smell the flowers, scientists suggest stopping to smell your farts.
While the thought may be enough to make your stomach turn, scientists at Johns Hopkins Medicine say the gas behind the foul, rotten-egg-smelling stench, known as hydrogen sulfide, can help protect aging brain cells from Alzheimer’s disease.
While the smelly gas is highly toxic in large quantities, smaller doses may provide some serious health benefits, Johns Hopkins researchers noted in a study published in an issue of the Proceedings of the National Academies of Science.

As the whale watching boat slowly approached, the passengers saw something strange in the water—an 80-foot cloud of red-brown liquid. Just minutes later, an orca hurled a small whale into the air. Dark red fluid gushed from its body. A member of the three-orca pod forced the whale under the water, holding the thrashing animal below the surface.
One of the orcas then approached the boat with its prey in its mouth, “and then I see her looking at us like, hey, look what I got?” says Camila Alejandra Dávila Pardo, a marine biologist at Blue Safari Madeira, a whale and dolphin watching tour group.

Bitcoin tumbled below $86,000 in Asian trading on Monday, even as regional stocks opened the final month of 2025 on a steadier footing, buoyed by growing optimism that the US is close to its next interest rate cut.
After hovering near $91,000 at the end of November, Bitcoin had been slipping lower in small steps, a sign of fatigue rather than capitulation.
That changed when a wave of selling punched through several intraday support levels and drove prices toward the $86,900 area, with a sharp spike in sell volume pointing to forced liquidations or large stop orders getting triggered.

Five years after its release, Google’s protein-mapping AlphaFold2 large-language model has “revolutionized science,” Nature reported, helping to boost key biological research from drug discovery to cancer ***** ysis.
Proteins are long molecules made of sequences of smaller ones. Their vital role in the body is dictated by their 3D shape, and for decades scientists have tried to predict how they “fold” from their 2D sequence.
