Farmers devastated as key crop becomes harder to grow: 'Cultivation is now under threat'

Once a reliable source of food and income, Iraq's fig trees are dying off due to relentless drought, leaving farmers struggling for their livelihood.
In Iraq's Babylon province, fig farmers are seeing sharp declines in yields due to drought, according to Jummar.
Just two years ago, a single tree could produce 25 to 40 crates of figs per season, with each crate weighing up to 20 kilograms. Today, a single tree produces just one 15- to 20-kilogram crate every two to three days — a steep drop in producti

A Hidden Warning Sign Discovered in The Gut May Increase Cancer Risk

As we get older, chemical marks on our DNA slowly shift. Now, a study reveals this 'drift' in gut stem cells is fueled by inflammation and disrupted cell signaling, and it may help explain why our risk of colorectal cancer rises with age.
The international team of researchers has called this process Aging and Colon Cancer-Associated (ACCA) drift, and it involves shifts in DNA methylation that can 'switch' genes on or off without altering the DNA – called epigenetic changes.
In this case, the drift leads to the gradual si

Though former New England Patriots tight end Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski may delight fans with his silly antics, he’s anything but when it comes to managing his money.
The former player recently revealed that he never spent a cent of his NFL salary, using income from off-the-field activities to pay his bills. But the “Gronk” isn’t the only NFL athlete to invest his money wisely and buck the trend of well-paid athletes who later fall on financial hard times despite their astronomical paychecks.

Generations of ancient, solitary bees made a home within the tooth holes of a fossilized jawbone, which was recently uncovered in a cave on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola.
It's the first time we've ever seen ancient bees taking up residence in the pre-existing cavities of a fossil, and it shows home really is what you make it.
Paleontologists believe the jawbone once belonged to a capybara-like rodent (Plagiodontia araeum), most likely transported to the cave in the grasp of an owl, which made a meal of the now extinct mammal and discarded its jawbone.

Cities made a bet on millennials — but forgot 1 key thing

Millennials moved to cities in droves during the 2000s and 2010s, drawn by the restaurants, the nightlife, and the high-paying jobs. Urban planners and local leaders celebrated, embracing what became known as the “creative class” theory — the idea that attracting educated, creative workers would drive cities’ economic growth.
Real estate developers built accordingly, constructing apartment buildings filled with studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms designed for singles, roommates, and childless couples. Young professionals could a
